American Sports

Well, there are several good sports teams and they are divided up pretty much geographically in conferences.

There are four primary great conferences and then there are the smaller ones that will have an ocassional David that slays one of the giant conferences teams.

American Sports are so difficult to explain because there are so many divisions.

You have the superior sports schools and they are Division 1-A, the smaller schools are Division 1-AA, then there is Divison II,
Division III. The lower the division the smaller the schools enrollment.

The Conferences amongst the Major Conferences not only in football but in all sports for collegiate athletes are as follows:

Big East with Member institutions

Miami(Fla), Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Temple, West Virginia, Syracuse, Virginia Tech.

Independents:

Notre Dame, Navy, University of Louisiana at Monroe, University of Louisiana at Lafayatte, Louisiana Tech, Central Florida and Middle Tennessee.

Southeastern Conference with Member institutions :

Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Louisiana State, Arkansas.

Big 12 Conference:

Nebraska(one of the best teams in the nation year in and year out), Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor.

The Big 10 Conference:

Northwestern, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue, Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State which actually totals 11 teams but originally there were 10 and they did not want to change the name of the conference so
you could actually say there are 10 big schools and whoever has a bad year in that conference is the little one.

Conference USA:

Houston, Alabama-Birmingham, East Carolina, Army, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, Louisville and Memphis.

Big West:

Idaho, North Texas, Boise State, Arkansas State, New Mexico State and Utah State and Nevada.

Mid-America Conference:

Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Kent, Miami of Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan, Marshall, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Buffalo and Northern Illinois.

Pac-10:

My favorite Conference. California, UCLA, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Washington State and Stanford.

Western Athletic Conference:

Teams included are TCU, SMU, Rice, Tulsa, San Jose State, Fresno State, Hawaii and UTEP

Then we have the final Major Conference:

The Mountain West Conference

Brigham Young, Air Force Academy, Colorado State, Wyoming, UNLV, San Diego State, New Mexico, and Utah.

I can better explain other scenarios out of this later but there are I believe 114 schools that compete in American Collegiate Football for the National Championship.

I hope this was good for starters.
