Robot Wars
One of my favourite television programmes is "Robot Wars", this is where amateur teams of engineers construct fighting robots then have battles to determine whose robot is the best. The fiercesome weapons include circular saws, pincers and hydraulic spears.
One team who has appeared for several years is the PLUNDERBIRD team. these two individuals in army boots, fatigues and dark glasses are very sure of their ability to defeat all comers, but each time they are defeated, sometimes very quickly.
They are not disheartened, but in their loud manner promise they will be back to "kick butt" in a future series.
Jesus was not defeated when he came to earth by those stronger than him, but gave his life to pay for our sins.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. " Romans 5: 8
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" 1Peter 3: 18
He promised that he would return, and we are just waiting for the time, he will return with his angels.
"And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received
him out of their sight.
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in
white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which
is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." Acts 1: 9 - 11
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel,
and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet
the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1Thessalonians 4: 16 - 17
