Do you feel secure ?

You've got a secure job,a house and insurance to protect you from anything and everything, Fire, flood, theft, personal accident, sickness, redundancy and you also have a good pension for when you retire.
We have a stable government with Security Forces and Security Services to protect us from anyone who would harm us.
And all this is good and helps us feel secure.

But the Bible says it is wrong to trust in these things.

"There was once a rich man who had land that bore good crops. He began to think to himself, 'I haven't anywhere to keep all my crops. What can I do? This is what I will do, he told himself; 'I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, where I will store my corn and all my other goods. Then I will say to myself, Lucky man ! You have all the good things you need for many years. take life easy, eat, drink and enjoy yourself'
But God said to him, 'You fool ! This very night you will have to give up your life; then who will get all these things you have kept for yourself ?'"

The man who built the bigger barns had his material security, but not his spiritual security.

His selfish provision for himself left God out of the picture and out of his life, and by his own choice separated himself from God.
The story shows his security could not be relied upon since his life could be ended anytime God decided.

Our security is not lasting.

A good job becomes a victim of redundancy, "down-sizing" or "re-engineering".
A house is re-possessed if mortgage payments are not met.
Insurance schemes often don't meet their promises when someone tries to claim.

Christianity seems to be growing most in the countries where material security is poor, the third world and the former Communist countries of Eastern Europe. These people as have people throughout the world have found only God is to be relied upon.

God has said that nothing will separate us from his love and that he can be relied upon.
"There is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord."
So whether you are materially OK now, or not. God wants you to realise your need for the real security that only Jesus can give.

Life Assurance policies assure you that when you die a sum of money will be paid out. Jesus assures you an eternal life.

"God has given us eternal life, and this life has it's source in his Son. Whoever has the Son has this life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I am writing this to you so that you may Know that you have eternal life - you that believe in the Son of God."
